In collaboration with St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland and ABC Training and Consulting, our Brisbane laboratory has come on board as a work experience provider for the Vinnies Pathway to Laboratory Skills as part of the Skilling Queenslanders for Work program; funded by the Queensland State Government.
The program provides training for people who are unemployed, or under-employed in the labour market, as well as building the skills of young people, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with a disability, mature-age job seekers, parents re-entering the workforce, and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, including asylum seekers and refugees.
Our Brisbane Laboratory Manager, Royce Smith, and our Technical Sales Manager, Carl Witherspoon, recently attended a training forum to give a presentation about who we are and what we do in order to give the students an insight into Coffey Testing and answer questions before commencing work experience. The presentation was well received by the students who commented that they “were inspired by your stories of mate-ship in and outside the work place” and were “impressed and felt hopeful after listening about your career paths”.
We are excited to welcome the students into our laboratory to share our knowledge and expertise within the field of Construction Materials Testing and are proud to be involved in a program that is making a real difference.
